Summer Necklace

Summer fashion, for me at the moment,  feels like loose fitting dresses or harem pants and singlets. I'm thinking it's a lot like boho chic.

To compliment my summer wardrobe I have had a necklace idea floating in my head for a long while. I finally got to put into practice my vision for the ultimate summer necklace.

I made this necklace in individual strands first then bound them all together using a wrapping technique. The single strands were some multi-coloured beads of various sizes and some wrapping of cotton thread in various colours. I used the wrapping technique that I learned to do as a hairdresser creating hair wraps in peoples long locks.

When the single strand were completed I crossed them over each other to make it look a little more random and used another coloured cotton to wrap it all together. I opted not to put in a necklace clasp at the back. I made sure the necklace would fit freely over my head. I hid all the ends of the individual strands under the final wrap and I weaved in the ends of the last wrap with a darning needle.

I've worn it a few times already. Now to work out a way to feed the baby without him pulling it to shreds. In the mean time I'll just keep removing it forty times a day... sigh.
