DIY Atlas Wall Hanging

One thing I have lusted after is a map wall hanging. I would have preferred a lovely vintage old school one but who isn't looking for those? The price on the ones I can find are often a little beyond what I would pay.

On a recent trip to Spotlight I found that they had started stocking fabric atlas panels - woo hoo!

I hemmed the sides of the map panel and added two white ends in which I made some envelopes to house some dows to keep it nice and straight. I added some ribbon at the top to help it hang.

Fair to say I was pretty happy with the results and all the materials cost me under $20.

I feel like these holidays are just what I needed to get some things done around the house. I even believe had I not been working full time I would not have used two weeks off so well. Sometimes you need time limits to increase your motivation to just get things done.

Did you get some time off over Easter? How have you been creative this week?

*NB: In between making the wall hanging and posting this blog post the renovations on the bedroom have entered the final stage. Yet another of those awful pine walls was painted blue (original photos below), the rest are being painted white - I have the carpet people coming to measure up the floors next week and then I will complete the finals task and go hunting for some curtains.
I must be nesting because I have even cleaned out my wardrobe and thrown out 8 bags full of stuff to return to Vinnie's.*
