Come cowl with me

Well hello there. Have you noticed my little lull in posting? I am currently doing my LAST prac before I become a proper teacher - woo! Hopefully regular programing will begin again shortly.

At the start of winter I began making a knitted cowl to keep me warm in the cool Tasmanian winter. I used a lovely pure wool in grey and a moss stitch to complete it.

How do you do a moss stitch? Start off with an uneven amount of stitches then its a simple knit one, purl one right along the line. Once you turn your work always begin with a knit stitch and continue along the line in your knit one purl one pattern. The effect you get from the moss stitch is a lovely textured material which is so cozy on these chilly winter mornings. I continued on knitting until I had about 70cm in length. I darned the two short edges together to make an infinity loop and my cowl was complete.

I love cowls as they are a scarf that never slips and because you can use them as a hoodie in times of need. Lastly I think I need to top it off with a lovely wooden brooch - let the search begin.
