Good homegrown food




This year has been very productive in my wee garden. It's fair to say we have eaten loads of fresh produce and my pantry is now over flowing with preserves. It has been a fantastic tomato year and I only put in two zucchini plants so i didn't get inundated like hell zucchini year last year. The potatoes and pumpkins have been very late bloomers and leafy green were abundant. We grew so many other veggies I can't even remember all that we grew.
My next step in my gardening adventures is an aquaponic system. Research is happening and objects have been collected in preparation. I can't think of anything better than fresh veggies and fish to eat every night.

Preserved:
+Tomato Relish (Marjorie Bligh recipe with less salt than last year)
+Sundried Tomatoes
+Dried apples
+Apple cider
+Herbs
+Rubarb and mint jelly
+Beetroot marmalade
+Chilli jam

Planted for winter so far:
+Garlic
+Bok Choy
+Kale
+Spring onions 
+Artichoke

Seeds Saved:
+Two varieties of Tomatoes
+Two Variety of chillies
+Spring Onions
+Chives
+Pumpkin

I made some chilli jam yesterday with some friends Rocoto Chilli and I have spent the last 24 hours with burning hands and too scared to go to the toilet - it was indeed very hot. Lesson learned, gloves will be worn next time. Please no one do what I did and remember to wear gloves....please.
