Artscape Re-Opening

Last Sunday we Re-launched our local community art centre "Artscape". We are hoping to create some new energy back into the 6 year old centre. We had a Harpist playing beautiful music, talks from Alwyn our president and a local Light house tours manager and fellow artist David Roberts-Thompson.
We had a great turn out and enjoyed tea with cake or wine with cheese. At 2pm on a Sunday afternoon the drinks choice could go either way.
We had works on our newly painted walls from the groups that have started to use the space in the centre: Word Players, Stitch n Bitch/Made with Love, Smart Arts: Quilters, and lead lighting workshops.

Currently my title is "Creative Manager" but Artscape was my baby. It became my University Masters project. From scratch i decided to create a home for the arts in my community. I have been lucky that the community has backed it and i was blessed with a valuable committee early. Since then we suffered a lag as i was having my baby girl and didn't have the time to spend on it like i did in the beginning. In a way it had to happen. The centre had to become part of the community rather than being enforced on the community. Since then the major roles of the committee have been picked up by passionate people and we are once again fortunate for it to be given new life under the hands of others. Most of the old committee is still with us which shows that we must have a good thing happening. Fingers crossed we can just grow from here. It just shows that great things can happen when ordinary people put their hands up to help out and contribute.

Now some pictures for you from the opening....
