Camping Recipes

The above photo has nothing to do with the below post. I just loved it. Miss G loves camping.
So one thing you have to think about when on the road is how to eat. How to plan meals with minimal ingredients and minimal saucepans and clean up. Our fridge is small so you also tend to try to use ingredients that don't need to be in the fridge. I do however make use of the Parks that have great camp kitchens. It makes cooking so much better than on a small gas cooker.

I have a few standard things i make camping.....
  • Boil Penne. In another pan fry some mushrooms, add beans, salami and a tomato based sauce (i like the chilli and olive one).
  • Buy a chicken break it up and use it for sandwiches, wraps, stir fires and risottos.
  • Buy pre-made salads and include it with most meals.
  • Frozen stir fry veggies are good to mix or on the side.
  • Quick packet pastas make a great side.
  • Cereals make great quick breakfasts and fast snacks for the kidlets
  • Small lasagnas heated in the camp kitchen oven with salad.
  • Fish caught by your resident hunter-gathera (mainly bought fish for us).
We are going to be on the road for a couple of weeks yet and i was wondering if you had any suggestions. Would love to do some other simple healthy meal ideas. What do you do camping?
